FREEDOM OH FREEDOM

If you haven't sang the title you're banned from reading further.

Ok let me think how to write this lmao. Basically asked a French girl for directions and she's been showing me around the city since I've been out of iso, went for some drinks, did the classic getting to know each other convo & it's been super helpful for my French as we were sat chatting the other day for 5hrs and again today for 3... & she lives on my road which is great :)

My housemate (ma coloc) is really sweet the first wk I've been here she's invited me to stuff she's been going to so we went to a bday celebration thing the other night, very chilled vibe (a guy singing acoustic, playing the guitar, French guy rapping & drinks) I feel like atm I can understand quite a lot I'm just lacking the knowledge of how to say things the right way.

Actually I've just said that and when I was out with Miley (the French girl I chatted about earlier) some French guys came up to us whilst we were having a drink and I swear I didn't understand one word they said other than that they came from Lyon and were here to have a 'good time' for the wknd.

Feel like this weeks updates gonna sound a bit dead but I've got to fill u in (mainly for uni) ermm decided to be a bit spontaneous and get on a tram when one of my friends came up to stay to go to the beach, then we went by a market I've been wanting to go to so we ended up going there for the eve which was v chillllll.

Language wise I'm getting by, honestly don't really get scared about speaking the language because if you get that look that's like 'tf are u trying to say' you can just find different ways of expressing what you're trying to say or use hand gestures or whatever.

It's been funny a couple times I've been out with a new English friend I've made, a waiter heard us speaking English (I know I shouldn't but when you've been speaking French 24/7 and find one person that speaks your language and can understand you fully it's always nice) and he then came over to take our order in English. Me being me sat there and was like non you're not allowed to speak to me in English I wanna practice. So I order in French & he switched back and was like oh you can speak French & I was like oui donnez-moi un mojito :)

Culture wise I'm trying to get used to eating a lot later, there were ppl out last night queuing for a restaurant at 10:30, which I just don't understand. I also didn't think French people queued for stuff but guess I was wrong.

Think this sums up my last wk- my plans for this week are to get a French SIM card, open a French bank account, book my vaccine and start CAF stuff (housing aide) so yeah fun stuff :) vaccine's my top priority rn as they've changed the regulations here so I have to have neg tests (that u have to pay for each time) to go anywhere and do anything or be doubled vax'd. I'm trying to get my second dose before my bday which is this Sat- so far planning on having a very chilled beach day if I can't get vax'd before :)
